Building Safer and Stronger Communities
As your candidate for Ward 3, I am committed to building safer and stronger communities by prioritizing law and order, fiscal responsibility and common-sense policies. I believe in providing our emergency services with the resources and support they need to protect our neighborhoods while fostering trust through community engagement. While the city proposes budget cuts to our police service, more and more Calgarians express safety concerns using public transit after business hours. I will support working with our police services to ensure that we have adequate coverage in our communities, addressing response times and building a more comprehensive plan for tackling crime and providing community support to our most vulnerable.
Reversing property tax hikes and making our city more affordable
In 2024, a City of Calgary survey found that only 44% of residents in Ward 3 were satisfied with the value that was received for our property taxes. Yet every year, our property taxes increase, including a tax hike of 8.9% in 2025. During the current affordability crisis, we need to have a government that acts accordingly. We should be ensuring that our property taxes are reflected in the services that we need every day - not wasted on vanity projects. We need to increase transparency at City Hall so that we can more efficiently cut wasteful spending without cutting jobs or losing services. As families tighten their belts, our government should do the same.

Enhancing Transit security and accessibility
It is going to take more than a staged photo op from the Mayor to correct the issues with our transit system. I will support the hiring of new transit officers to provide support to our transit operators and users. And I will take a new approach to ensuring that the promised Green Line becomes more than just a concept on paper. Phase Two must include a concrete plan for expanding the line to properly serve North Calgary, not a plan that results in a shorter and more expensive line any time it is looked at. This will expand accessibility, giving Ward 3 residents greater options for traveling for work and pleasure.
Ensuring that our communities have a voice at City Hall
North Calgary, and Ward 3 in particular, is the fastest growing area of our city, yet we seem to have less of a voice with each council. Garbage collection only happens twice a month, our green spaces are being overlooked and the city is lagging behind in providing essential services to our community. We need a strong voice at the table to effectively represent the issues facing our neighbors. Fixing potholes, maintaining our green spaces and collecting garbage should never be pushed aside in favor of personal pet projects. I'm not running for a name, I'm running for a lasting change. A change that is not just for 4 years, but for the future of our city.

Supporting our local entrepreneurs and small businesses
As a small business owner, I understand the challenges that face many in our communities. Bureaucracy and needless red tape result in requests taking longer than necessary to process. I will support cutting back on unnecessary red tape, enabling our business owners to provide even greater value to our communities.
I'm Assad Choudhry
I am running to be your next city councilor for Ward 3. I am a small business owner, husband and father, born and raised here in Calgary. Having owned a small business, I know that the best way to persevere through challenges is to buckle down and work hard. Having watched the growth of our city through the 1990s and 2000s, I cannot stand by and watch the way that recent councils have stagnated our growth as a community, and I am ready to bring the same resilience from running my business to City Hall. Having a young family has me concerned for the future, and I want our kids to have every opportunity for success possible.
WHY I'M RUNNING
I chose to get involved because for years, I have felt that our voice in Ward 3 has been overlooked. We need to control the non stop spending binge at City Hall, and I will use my business background to give careful analysis to how each tax dollar is spent. Our concerns aren't just items on a list, they are real problems that require real solutions with real results. I am running to return the voice of our community to City Hall, because your voice matters in the decision making of our leaders. I am not running for a name, I am not running for an ego, I'm running for YOU!
